Why Is The Lamborghini Aventador So Good? | Flamboyance GT

True story. The other day, I was walking along, in my own world, filled with thoughts. Then, something happened. It shook my nerves. It sent a chill accompanied by a shiver down my spine. It was a roar. It was a thunderous bark followed by a wail. A wail filled with emotion. It was amazingly angry and determined, yet so lamentingly touching. This is how I would like to describe the symphony played by a Lamborghini Aventador.

It is one thing to hear an Aventador in videos, but beholding the bellow of 12 petrified pistons in real life… Well, all I can say is, it is on a different planet. Truly, it is one of the most amazing things you can hear in life, apart from the “yes!” Of course. But sound apart, why not take a look at the car itself? Particularly the 1st gen one. Why? You’ll know in a bit. Keep reading…

A legendary V12 engine utilized for over half a century has been laid in its grave. A new one has been born. It was the new L539 V12 designed by Lamborghini in conjunction with parent Volkswagen Audi. Sure, it had its own share of issues during the earliest years, but fact is, nothing in life is perfect. Most of the problems had been fixed in the 2013 years and so on. A beastly 691 stallions when unleashed were capable of 350 kilometres an hour or 217 miles an hour. It could do nought to 62 in a puny 2.9 seconds

What’s more is the handling. With Formula One inspired pushrod suspension, it could inspire Formula One itself. It became the first big Lambo which could turn. What about the Murcie and the later Diablo, you ask? By turn, I mean a proper, proper turn. The first gen Aventador was well known for being a true rough and tough supercar for its time, amidst it’s “competition” which consisted of ones pampering, spoon-feeding and spoiling the drivers without truly giving an unforgettable thrill.

A highlight is the Aventador’s ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) Transmission built by Graziano Oerlikon. It is a transmission which shifts faster than many of its competition (At 50 milliseconds) while only possessing a single clutch, and thus, being so much lighter and simpler in contrast to the double clutches prevalent in many sports cars these days. What I respect about it is the fact that it works on common sense. Essentially, the gear in sequence is prepped and kept ready, so when you pull the paddles behind the wheel of terror, it shifts directly and instantaneously without fuss. What I respect even more is the pull and push throw it lunges at you when you upshift at speed. This is very reminiscent of Lambo’s old E-Gear system found in the Murcielago and the Gallardo.

Now let us not perform a crime by ignoring the amazing downshifts. And the so unbelievably prevalent, decisive and pushing roar which accompanies one. The one which wails, “Push me harder… More… More…”

So here, a transmission which makes you feel like a volleyball is coupled with an engine which is… If you have noticed it in some reviews on TV shows and on YouTube, is very non linear in terms of acceleration. Everything is properly unrefined. Everything is imperfect. Thus, everything is unique. And thus, everything is beautiful.

Sadly, the Aventador S (What I call, the 2nd gen) has had most of the things I mentioned refined out. Ironed out. And ironically made more boring out of… But don’t worry. It’s really not that bad.

Now, l would like to add one more thing. It is the time when you accelerate and then, let go of the throttle. The sound it makes when you let go and the revs slowly fall. It is one special highlight. If you don’t understand, watch a video on YouTube where an aventador is driven properly. It is an orchestral Melody filled with so much emotion. It is almost reminiscent of a beast of legend slowly letting go of its last breath.

Unfortunately, letting go of its last breath may really be what’s happening. This is maybe one of the last few properly raw and true supercars. But given its visceral nature, it also possesses a more delicate and tame side. It has most luxury amenities in it you might expect from a standard luxury car. To truly explore this dual personality, particularly it’s soft side, you may want to learn a few techniques. Like letting go of the throttle whenever you use the paddles to change gear, which negates most of the jerkiness related to this activity. This is just an example. Many more might exist
A truly mysterious and exciting experience is guaranteed by it.

These are some of the reasons why the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 not only requires our authentic attention and appreciation, but truly deserves it. Thank you, Lamborghini!
